Antenatal
Thursdays 8.45am - 4.00pm
This clinic is run by the midwives. If you become pregnant you will be given a ‘booking appointment’ at which the midwife will ask you a few questions and carry out some general health checks. You will be seen regularly throughout your pregnancy either at the practice or at the local hospital, or both.
Child Health And Immunisation
Tuesday afternoons - by appointment only
Child health and immunisation clinics are run by the doctors and health visitors and all new babies are invited for regular check-ups from eight weeks old.
Diabetes
By invitation/appointment only
This clinic is run by our specialist nurse and offers advice and general health check-ups to patients diagnosed with diabetes. We will write to offer you an appointment.
Asthma
Monday afternoons and Wednesday mornings - by invitation.
This clinic is run by our specialist nurse and asthma sufferers can book an appointment to be seen in the clinic for advice and support. We will write to offer you an appointment.
Stopping Smoking
By appointment only with Lyn Fox
Run by our nurse practitioner, this clinic gives advice and support to patients trying to give up smoking.
CHD/Hypertension
Led by our nursing team, this clinic offers advice and general health check-ups to patients diagnosed with heart conditions.
Well Women Clinics
These clinics are run by the practice nurses for smears, postnatal checks and discussion of women’s health issues - by appointment only.
Minor Surgery
Monday afternoons
Drs Lawrence, Jones and Glover carry out minor surgical procedures at the surgery by appointment only. The doctors will be happy to advise you on this.
Practice Therapist
A therapist is available for counselling on certain days by appointment you will be invited by letter to attend. Please discuss with the doctor who will arrange a referral if appropriate. Do note there is often a waiting list for this service.
Travel Immunisations/Vaccinations
Please make an appointment at least four weeks in advance of your holiday to ensure adequate cover. A charge will be made for certain immunisations and vaccinations which are not covered by the NHS. A list of these charges is held at reception.You will be asked to complete a for when making an appointment giving details of when you will be traveling, to where and what kind of holiday it is - this needs to be returned to the practice before the appointment to enable the nurse to see what vaccinations are appropriate.
Yellow Fever Vaccinations
Northfield Medical Centre is an authorised Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre.
Inital/Periodic Health Checks
The practice will ask you to attend a free health check appointment with one of the health care assistants when registering with the practice.
Patients are also eligible for a health check if aged between 16 and 74 years and who have not been seen within the last three years. Patients aged 75 years who have not been seen within the last 12 months are eligible for a health check with one of the nurses.
